Who We Are

Our Mission is to help lower the risk of serious illness or death from skin cancer through preventative care and timely detection.

Skin Cancer cases in Canada are on the rise. There are more new cases of skin cancer each year than the number of breast, prostate, lung and colon cancers combined.  The Good News? - When detected early, the 5-year survival rate for melanoma is 99 percent. [1]

At dermscan, our team of doctors are dedicated to providing exceptional skin cancer screening and early detection services using cutting edge mole mapping and digital dermoscopy technology.

Are YOU at risk?

About 90% of skin cancers are caused by UV rays, but there are other factors that can determine your risk.

Face Moles

Complexion

If you are fair-skinned, then you have less melanin in your skin and therefore less protection against the sun’s damaging UV rays.

Number of moles

The risk is greater for people with a large number of moles or if your moles are irregularly shaped, or have changed recently.

Family History

Having a family member with skin cancer means you are at greater risk. The risk is especially strong if a close relative, such as a parent, sibling, or child, has skin cancer.

Tanning bed use

People are more likely to develop skin cancer from using tanning beds than developing lung cancer from smoking. Their use causes a  75 percent increase in melanoma risk when indoor tanning beds have been used before age 30.

History of Sunburns

People who have had one or more sunburn are at higher risk of developing skin cancer.

History of Skin Cancer

Once you’ve had one skin cancer, your risk for developing another increases
